
John finished his DPhil in Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University under the supervision of Professor Yong-Lae Park (Soft Robotics and Bionics Lab). He has worked on designing and improving flat, inflatable artificial muscles and linear electrostatic actuators, which are useful for wearable robotic applications.
John also worked on integrating stretchable tactile sensors to a gripper design with elongatable fingers that he developed for grasping a wide range of objects. He is interested in developing and designing robotic systems for better performance and versatility in applications for wearable assistive devices or safety equipment. Currently, he is working as a postdoctoral research assistant for Professor Liang He on the improvement and development of testing personal protective equipment such as helmets.
