Registration closed on 10th September 2024. We were delighted to welcome all registered attendees on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th September at the Richard Doll Lecture Theatre in Oxford.
The inaugural Podium Institute Annual Conference in Sports Medicine and Technology seeked to highlight enabling scientific developments that improve the prevention, detection and treatment of sports injuries, with a particular focus on youth, female and community sport.
In addition to a wealth of invited and contributed talks and posters, particular programme highlights include:
- a Plenary Keynote from Professor Andrew Zisserman FRS on Computer Vision
- and Keynote Lectures from:
- Prof. Lee Goldstein (Boston University) on Traumatic Brain Injury
- Prof. David Sharp (Imperial College) on Neuroimaging
- Dr. Hongwei Zhang (Abbott) on Biomarkers and Point-of-Care Diagnostics
- Dr Damian Smith (Podium Analytics) on Big Data in Sport
- Dr Mazdak Ghajari (Imperial College) on Brain Modelling and Helmet Testing
- Prof. Keith Stokes (Bath University) on Instrumented Mouthguards
Registration costs were strongly subsidised to encourage broad participation and included the drinks reception and gala dinner at Balliol College. The programme of the conference can be found here.

Registration included:All meals on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th, refreshments and attendance to the drinks reception and formal hall dinner at Balliol College on 26th September. Accommodation can also be booked at New College for an additional £45 per person on a first come, first served basis. Upon notification of acceptance, contributing presenters were required to confirm attendance through payment of the attendee fee prior to final inclusion in the programme. |
