I completed my undergraduate study of Physics in 2026, receiving a First-Class honours degree in MPhys Physics from the University of Exeter. My Master’s thesis involved utilising the sub-wavelength structure of metamaterial arrays to fabricate and develop a tactile pressure-sensing device. My experience in developing sensing technologies, keen interest in sport, and mathematical background inspire my interest in technology for sports medicine.
I have played cricket since my youth and during my time at university. I have been lucky to play alongside some incredibly talented sportswomen, too many of whom have sustained significant injuries.
Research Project
My research involves developing wearable sensing for the upper limb. I am interested primarily in the shoulder and elbow joints, with a view to tennis athletes. By combining data from strain sensors and inertial measurements, my aim is to calculate load forces, track kinematics, and monitor neuromuscular motion. Improved understanding of these mechanisms will assist in identifying (and attempting to mitigate) the risk factors for athlete injury. I am also interested in opportunities for integrating wearable sensing technology with motion capture and assessing external factors which contribute to injury risk.
