Andreas Christou is a postdoctoral researcher in Robotics and Wearable Devices for health at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. Andreas completed his PhD in Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the Institute for Perception, Action and Behaviour, University of Edinburgh. He developed computational and control methods integrating assistive robots and functional electrical stimulation to enhance gait rehabilitation for individuals with neurological impairments. During his doctoral and postdoctoral research, he has worked on human-in-the-loop optimisation, musculoskeletal modelling, and adaptive human-robot collaboration to advance personalised interventions in healthcare and performance enhancement.
Andreas’s current research with Professor Constantin Coussios focuses on analysing wearable sensor data to investigate the effects of sports-related injuries on neural degeneration, monitor recovery, and reimagine safety standards in sports through more robust, data-driven methods.
